Structure
The execution of the overall objectives and operations of the Committee shall be the responsibility of two subsidiary Boards, namely, an Executive Board and a Technical Board. Their operations shall be supported administratively by a paid Secretariat.
Its objectives are to:
The Committee shall generally further the interests of CIGRE in Southern Africa and promote the interest of Southern African members in the activities of CIGRE. Its specific objectives shall include the following:-
a. To recruit CIGRE Members and provide a centre for the collection of membership fees for forwarding to the Central Office.
b. To encourage the preparation of papers to be presented to the Paris Sessions and forward them to the Central Office.
c. To make recommendations to the Council for persons to become Members of Study Committees and to encourage in Southern Africa the formation of committees of experts to co-operate with the Study Committees
d. To assist in keeping CIGRE Members informed of the activities of Study Committees and of the most important results of the Paris Sessions.
e. To promote the activities locally of the Study Committees for which there is a Southern African member. This will be done in accordance with the local Operating Guidelines drawn up in 1994.
f. Where appropriate, to promote CIGRE activities, such as Regional Conferences, within Southern Africa.
