SUMMARY:9TH CIGRE Southern Africa Regional Conference
DESCRIPTION:Theme: “Sustainable Integration of Distributed Energy Resources for Power System Development”\n Background   \nGlobally there has been an increase in the deployment of distributed energy resources (DER) in the form of renewable energy generation and microgrids. This technology presents a unique opportunity for power system development due to its low emissions\, scalability\, short construction time frames and diversifying the energy supply. \nGrid integration of DER can present challenges\, be it during planning\, construction or operation. The 9th CIGRE Southern Africa regional conference will provide a platform to deliberate on sustainable integration of distributed energy resources for power system development. These discussions will be between electric utilities\, system operators\, regulators\, manufacturers and suppliers\, universities\, standardizing bodies\, research laboratories and authorities on topics in the field of development of electrical systems in Africa. \nThis regional conference will be held in conjunction with the 2019 CIGRE SC B4 Colloquium\, from the 1st October to the 4th October 2019 at the Misty Hills Country Hotel\, Conference Centre & Spa\, Johannesburg\, South Africa. \nPreferential Subjects \nPapers related to the application of distributed energy resources and microgrids across all study committees are invited. Preference will be given to submissions in the fields of technology\, planning\, operations and markets as well as actual project and operational experience with focus on the following subjects: \n\nIntegration on DER within Transmission and Distribution networks\nEnergy storage technologies\nRegional interconnections solutions\nElectricity infrastructure resilience\nImpact of distributed generation on existing equipment performance\nImpact of distributed generation on power system protection schemes\nImprovements in electricity access in Africa and developing countries\nEnvironmental impact of the deployment of DER and microgrids\nCybersecurity\nTelecommunications\n\n  \nRegistration \nRegistration is now open.  Click here to view registration info. \nExhibitions \nExhibitors are welcome to contact the organising committee to enquire about exhibition space during the conference. \nCommittees and Enquiries \nThe symposium organizing and technical committees are composed of the following: \n\n\n\n9th SA Regional Conference Organising Committee Chairperson:\nSharon Mushabe\n\n\n9th SA Regional Conference Technical Committee Chairperson:\nKhayakazi Dioka\n\n\nEnquiries\nAnelja de Bok \nanelja@activecapture.co.za\n\n\n\nSubmission of Abstracts and Papers\n \nParticipants wishing to present and publish papers should submit abstracts and papers by following instructions on this page.  All abstracts\, papers and presentations must be in English.
